About SPECC

A local church that treats you like family

We’re an evangelical congregational church on the corner of Main and Marais, old enough to have deep roots and warm enough to feel like home.

What shapes us

Deep roots, open doors

Sea Point is diverse, transient, local and global all at once. Our church has learned to be rooted without being closed.

Our story

Building the church of Jesus Christ in Sea Point

For years, ordinary people have gathered on this corner to worship, to belong and to grow: office workers and grandmothers, students and young families, South Africans and newcomers from across the world.

In plain English: we love Jesus, we take the Bible seriously as God’s word, and we make decisions together as a family rather than being run from the top down.

Teaching

Bible-centred, Christ-exalting

We want every gathering to point people clearly to Jesus.

Family

Every generation together

Children, students, parents and grandparents worship as one church.

Welcome

Come exactly as you are

No performance, polish or pressure. Just a warm welcome.

What we believe

Ancient faith, honestly held

We hold to the historic Christian faith: God made us, we’ve all wandered from him, and in Jesus he came to bring us home.

  • The Bible as God’s trustworthy word
  • Jesus, crucified and risen, at the centre
  • Grace, not performance
  • A family, not an audience
